The women of the village were so very warm and welcoming. They all wanted so badly to sit with us and talk but they did not speak English so miming and translation was required. It always amazes me that when there is a will there is a way. We had wonderful long interactions and learned from each other about similarities and differences in our respective worlds. Mostly we learned about bridging differences and taking chances to share kindness and friendship.

Such beautiful women! ❤ ❤ ❤
What does the red dot on your forehead signify?
It is a Tika as a sign of welcome and honor
I’m curious what is that grey mound (of clay?) the one woman is crouching over with that stick?
It is a grinding stone they make from clay to grind meal.., fascinating! The women are beautiful, strong and so self sufficient and yet the culture allows few rights.., very hard existence
As always, love seeing your pictures! Beautiful, but I’m curious about red dot and the lady that looks like she grinding seeds or something with the masher…
Hi Pam! The dots are a Tika, a sign of welcome and honor and the grinder is made of clay and makes meal. They are amazing women!
