Sharanpur ENG
Sharanpur School Visit
Today we rode to a very remote and very poor area of Chitwan to Sharanpur school. We have 10 scholarship girls from this area. There are 175 students here total, nursery to 7th grade. The school has no electricity, only the one computer ENG gave them, and they reported that many kids don’t get lunch each day due to poverty. They have no library. Room to Read came a long time ago but the materials are torn up and the room was a disaster. We told them if they clean out the space we will work to provide the resources they asked for, a speaker system, books ( emphasis on science and reading for children) and musical instruments to show the children. The village women were very welcoming and curious about my life and the children were curious and diligent in working! This school is one of the few that has NOT been adopted yet… Please contact me if you would like to help!!! We need a sponsor!

Devanagar School Visit
I love this school and this village. It was extremely good to be back! The safe learning space request at this school is for a library area. The current reading room is closed. It was originally supported by the “Room to Read” foundation. We will help with book shelves and books and also benches. The teachers and administration had a vision for what they wanted for the kids… So glad ENG can make this possible. This school has 250 students in grades 1-8. They have 12 teachers. They are a gov school. ENG has 18 scholarship girls from this area. They also have a classroom for their smallest little ones that needs assistance and they need salary for a computer teacher.
Sweet Reunion
Sonisha!!! I have watched this girl grow into a beautiful young lady! She is 20 years old now and in her third year of bachelors study in management. She has been an ENG scholarship girls since age thirteen and she wants to be a bank manager.so proud of this girl! We had lunch with her family at her home with her mother, grandmother, and brother. So special to see her again!

Negotiating is hard work!
Negotiating with school officials, government officials and builders is hard work… We treated ourselves to lunch at the river and watched a Rhino lounge as we ate.
Let’s just leave it that the meeting with Nepali gov officials was an adventure all its own. Babi did a great job with the presentation. We need to keep our eye on the goal… The children and how we can best help them.
