Humbled

At the end of my graduate class today I apologized for keeping them until the last minute. The students don’t rush out here. They stay, waiting to see if you might share just one more piece of information with them. They responded by asking if we could hold extra hours of class, as much as I can teach. These students ride motorcycles in freezing weather to dimly lit room with no heat before dawn and sit in multiple layers shivering in order to get an education. And then they ask for more… I am beyond honored and blessed to have the opportunity to teach them.

Love Them ALL!

Today was the best day with our ENG girls club! These girls are absolutely amazing. These college & university level young women planned and carried out an amazing training on human trafficking, child marriage, and health risks for girls!i am beyond proud of them. We are developing young female leaders! We also celebrated one of our girls ranking nationally in martial arts competitions! These girls are on fire! So so good to spend time with them!!!

Funuru’s Wedding Day

I was beyond honored to be invited to spend the day with a group of very special people. When I arrived at FuNuru’s wedding today there were so many warm and welcoming familiar faces from my trips to Everest region. I was so excited too see everyone and share in this special day with this special Sherpa family. Thank you!

Cold Day

Left my place before dawn I’m freezing rain to observe a wonderful multicultural graduate class, no heat. The afternoon was filled with presenting at the Fulbright Commission. Ended the day with a walk through the cold mud and rain in Thamel. I’m freezing! No leaving my room tonight, peanut butter and crackers with hot tea for dinner! Staying snuggled up!

Book Proposal

I just hit the send button on this book proposal! If approved, there will be a frenzy of additional work to submit a manuscript so that the processes for printing in English and translation for a Nepali version can begin. Fingers crossed! More info to come later. ..

Government Closure

I started getting messages yesterday regarding the impact of the US government shut down and the impact here in Nepal. It’s a very odd feeling to be in a developing country and realize your embassy is not functioning at full capacity. Americans at home and all over the world are feeling the immediate impact.
