New Kurta!

These sweet sweet ladies gave me a Kurta and asked me to wear it for the afternoon opening of the pre-k. They got me dressed in the principal’s office and we were ready to roll… Bring on the kids!

Angel Faces

Just look at these little faces. Every time I think of slowing down I think of these babies and I know they deserve so much more! ENG had a great afternoon at Little Moon School opening the peek safe learning space. Thank you to every individual that gives to ENG and helps make these smiles possible!

Fulbright Meeting

I have been invited to apply as a Fulbright Scholar. I went for an informational meeting this morning. You just never know what wonderful joys are waiting just around the corner. The likelihood of obtaining a Fulbright is not high I think, very competitive I was told, but just being asked to consider is such an honor!

Alterations

I went just down the road to ask this young woman if she could alter my kurta so. I had seen her seeing in her shop daily as I passed. She spoke no English but was happy to help. You are looking at the entire shop, she is maybe twenty and the little girl is hers. She lives in a tin shed next to the shop. I think she is beautiful. The second photo is her view all day. The little boy is getting water (pani) from a well built into the sidewalk in front of the shop. The alterations meant measuring which drew a crowd for curiosity. Then came the trying on, a bolt of fabric unfolded enough for her to stand and hold up while I changed behind it( with a larger crowd gathering). Everyone waited until the alterations were finished with much discussion and suggestions and assistance. I really like this young woman. She is strong, and capable, and kind.

The Struggle Is Real😜

Good thing I’m feeling better because it has been a day!  A great day, but the struggle of day to day logistics is real! Regardless of how things look in photos here are just a few fun improvions today. After no hot water, again. Still wrestling with blowdryer. I have to hold plug, dryer, and brush so I have to sit on the floor and get my yoga pose on to dry my hair. I guess the good news is I rarely care enough to do this but today was a special ceremony. Speaking of special, when you only have sports bras and they don’t work with the kurta a dear friend gave you to wear, consider large bandaids😳 And, a bag tie works to pull your hair up!  This afternoon I worked on classes for hours using only my phone… Who knew how much fun a glitch in moodle could be the last week of classes when teaching online a half world away!!!’Tonight I made jiffy mix corn bread (from a care package) in the microwave, in muffin cup, using creamer and water for the milk! YES… Living like a BOSS here in Nepal! It’s really been a great day, just a little peek behind the scenes. Keeps me giggling #feelingcapable
