We ended the day at the bell tower clock display after an awesome traditional Chez meal of goulash, stuffed dumplings, and warm raspberries with ice cream. Tomorrow morning we will climb to the top!

We got settled into our apartment late afternoon and it began to storm so we settled for a few hours with hot tea, grading papers, and time with our students online. Lovely!!! #😈 #teachingfromprague

Here are a few of the scenes from our train on the way into the Chez Republic.

Spent the day at Dachau Concentration Camp. It was the first camp under Hitler’s reign and served as the training grounds for the SS killing squad. We toured the bunks, roll call grounds, gas chambers, and crematoriums. Thousands of individuals lost their lives because of hate. They were labeled and tortured because they were Jewish, or gay, or immigrants, or held differing religious/political views, etc. It was more than sad and some similarities to current world sentiment are beyond frightening. The words on the memorial say “NEVER AGAIN”. One would hope we have learned important lessons from those that have gone before us. #moreLOVE

Traveled to Saurlach to meet up with the orchestra. The local families here hosted a wonderful reception before the first scheduled performance (see 5 o’clock performance)  at the SommerTime Fest!

It’s been an awesome day in the market; climbing the tower of St. Peter’s-299 steps up! Visiting the old St. Peter Cathedral and looking for the best gelato.

We made it to Munich, figured out the subway system, early check-in and clean up and hit the city! Finished the day at a traditional Bier Garten for dinner under the twinkling lights.
