We left the school and went to the river. Found a table under a thatched roof, a warm Coke, and I promptly took a brief rest in the 100 degree temp. (As my friends? Snapped photos, I’ll spare everyone from the one where I’m drooling!) Too hot to eat, too hot to move and the back of our cargo van is not the first option so we will just hang out a bit. Life is Good!

REST
& In Between
The looks on these little faces when we let them come into their new classroom was a vision I will carry in my heart forever. Look closely at their faces as we play/teach using the new materials. Everyone that helped make this happen… Great job!!! I hope you feel some of the joy through these photos!
Explaining and demonstrating how to use the resources to the teacher
Bacchuli Before &and After
Bachhuli Pre-K
Three schools in three days in rural Chitwan in 100degree temps and no AC , breathing tons of dust and no ice for me ( not safe) is taking its toll on me, I’m dragging but we are in this to win it and the kids are waiting. Our first pre-k room today, so exciting! Our cargo van is loaded and ready with materials that arrived last night.
Devanagar Library
This school was adopted by students at Northwestern State University Mr. & Mrs. NSU/Student Organizations. You should be so proud of yourselves for stepping up and making such a difference.! I love our students! #GoDemons
Never seen a doll, had to convince her she could see it again tomorrow in the new library

These girls had never put puzzles together and they were so happy to try!
first time for flash cards! they would get so excited and so close they would back me isgainst the wall . they wanted to do this over and over! loved loved loved this time and interaction
I spotted this teacher in the next room reading one of the new teacher resource books. The next photos are of teacher and students beginning to settle down and read. The principal is such a kind man and was so very grateful!
Not Happy
This is the look on our faces when we realized that the materials for our playroom had not been sent. We knew we were down 1 but not 2! So we made calls and went into action. We jumped in our trusty cargo van to take us to shops to find anything that would work for today. And Pasang ( the Calvary) went into action in Kathmandu to get things here for tomorrow. TEAMWORK
Follow Up
Chocolate for Coping
Once we pulled away and I took a moment to take a breath I realized how exhausted we all were. How dirty, hot, and tired we were. We had one more school to visit so chocolate was definitely in order! I had a large Bar of chocolate in my backpack (always) ( to share of course) so I took it out. Did I mention that it is in the 90,s here in the jungle region and there is no such thing as AC here so your clothes stick to you, sweat causes your hair to be soaking wet, the dust makes mud rivets on your face, and it melts your chocolate! But that wouldn’t stop team ENG!!!
Time to Say Goodbye for Now
The scene as we drove away had me quite emotional. The teachers so sppreciative, the kids waving and sending kisses and smiles.
For everyone that gave even a dime to the safe learning space project, let me assure you that it matters. Every penny of it matters so much and it makes a difference in lives. Thank you!
