Little Moon School

The rest of the afternoon was spent at Little Moon School where I gave held psychological first aid sessions with the students and the teachers. The session with the teachers was very hard because they are so vulnerable and afraid with so few options to gain back a sense of control. But they are there, in uniform, taking care of the children… SO brave.

After the sessions we distributed buckets of needed items with a toy and a LuminAID light in each! The kids were very excited! An emotional roller coaster for sure… But one I would buy the ticket for again and again if it helps these sweet people.

Sharing In Time of Need… So Cool

Thanks to Wolf, we have 20 tarps! Thanks Wolf! Finally, some shelter to share with families!!!  These families will have shelter because wolf agreed to sell us his organizations tarps to meet our timeline and he will purchase more…. How it’s supposed to be!

Sweet Angel

She is recovering but the toll of the quake, her daddy dying, the burns and hospitalization, and her mother absent  is showing. We were able to give her burn cream and a teddy bear and got some smiles, I even got a kiss before we left! She is so precious!

A  Day of Sharing

the morning started with the international Crisis Management Institute where we discussed psycholigical intervention and future plans of collaboration. Our time together is always enjoyable and informative! It was good to talk about cultural differences of intervention and future growth for the country from lessons learned.

Full Steam Ahead

we began work right away, I didn’t even check in my room,we reviewed our schedule, made phone calls about supplies and called Dr Indra  to meet to deliver the surgical headlamps. I am very happy to hand those over! Now, hurry to buys toys for the kids to go with all the necessities before the shops close. We shopped in the equivalent of a storage container, but we got the job done!!!  Back to the room to sort medical supplies for the health clinics. It is 11:00 pm and  I am out of fuel… Big day tomorrow!

Safety Net in Nepal

As I exited the chaos of the airport terminal men start to surround and try to get your attention by yelling over one another for a taxi fare. As always, I look up and there is A.D. Welcoming me to Nepal! I had been nervous as I looked at blue and orange tarps across the valley as the plane was landing but I felt calm once I spotted AD. The ride across Nepal to the hotel was very sad. A country that already has so little is struggling.

I had just stepped to the desk and PAssng magically appeared at my side with a warm greeting and a plan . He was followed shortly by Babota and Pramita at news of my arrival. It made my heart very happy to see them all!

My Safety net here is in place..,

Hit the Ground Running!

Finally made it to Nepal. Doha was amazing-very unique for sure. Arab style progressive architecture and cultures blending beautifully throughout the experience. I met a sweet nepali couple fleeing the earthquake and a really funny young Muslim couple from the Doha area as we were grouped to ride shuttles across Doha for our 14 hour lay over.

prayers were answered about luggage at the airport, a young man next to me saw me struggling with my bag and he immediately began to help. Turns out he studied engineering at la tech for his masters and was flying home to check on his family. So goal #1 of surviving airport accomplished.
