It is Christmas Day and we found a Christmas Nepali celebration at a church across the city. We were some of a few non-local to attend. We created quite the stir… People were welcoming, gracious, and warm…. Many namastes and Merry Christmas greetings were shared.
We spent the afternoon doing home visits for scholarship girls . We split up so we visited about 12 homes. We got to see where the girls live, meet parents, take photos, sing songs, teach Christmas carols and enjoy tea. Some of our girls are living with a family of 5 or more in one 14 by 12 room. They were so proud we had come to see them! I brought ribbon for their hair and made ponytails… Such sweet moments. The children love attention and are very affectionate. Beautiful Christmas. We miss family and friends but what a special gift shared with these girls and their parents ! Our day ended with an ENG celebration of wonderful food, amazing new friends, songs and games.., tomorrow we travel to Chitwan

Glad you had a memorable Christmas! Praying for all.
Very interesting. know this is quiet an experience for you and for the people you meet. we will continue our prayers for you all .
Do most people speak English or do you have translators? Have you run across any Deaf students or adults? Can you ask about how Deaf students are educated? Thanks!
I am sitting with a beautiful girl now that says she says that they have not really known deaf students … Kind of unheard of….
I was telling friends about your trip at A New Years Eve gathering and my friend, Catherine said she remembers a book called Buddha in Disguise. It’s about Deaf people in Nepal!!! Who knew? I’m trying to get a hold of a copy quickly and let you know what’s in it. Please ask the teachers if they know how deaf children are educated.
We haven’t heard from you for a couple days, so you must not have internet access. Hope you’re all doing well and staying warm. Looking forward to hearing from you! Happy New Year!
